The month of November has two birthstones associated with it, Topaz and Citrine. Even though both are associated with November birthdays, Topaz is the traditional birthstone. Topaz has been known since antiquity, but it has long been confused with citrine, hence citrine being the other birthstone for November.
Topaz comes in a rainbow of colors, such as pink, yellow, purple, orange and blue. But the most sought after Topaz is the imperial topaz, which is reddish orange in color. Orange, red and pinks are the rarest topaz colors to find. Blue Topaz is the 4ht anniversary gemstone and imperial topaz is the gemstone for the 23rd wedding anniversary.
Despite being confused with other gemstones, topaz is said to have a wide array of healing properties. Topaz is said to increase understanding, strengthen breathing, prevent colds, enhance creativity, bring relaxation, and restore energy. Topaz also possesses the characteristics of loyalty, friendship and faithfulness. Spiritual transformation, happiness and feelings of rejuvenation are also connected with topaz.
Citrine, the secondary birthstone for November, is known as the “healing quartz” and is said to support vitality and health while encouraging and guiding hope, energy and warmth within the wearer. Citrine can be found in a variety of shades from pastel yellow to dark brownish orange.
