Kashmir Sapphire A 28.18 carat extraordinary Kashmir sapphire, and diamond ring sold for $5,093,000 at Sotheby’s New York on April 29. The anonymous buyer paid $180,731 per ct., a new auction world record for price per carat for any sapphire. The sale was part of the Magnificent Jewels auction, in which total sales were $44,313,500. The highest dollar sale of the night was the spectacular fancy-intense orangy-pink diamond and diamond ring.
