Which ring goes on first?
I’m often asked this question from brides to be. The answer is the wedding band goes on first, then the engagement ring.
Why you might ask?
Well, it is said that the left ring finger has a vein that runs directly to your heart. So with the final commitment to each other, the wedding band goes first since it is the closest to your heart. Whether this is true or just a myth, the loving, romantic tradition lives on.
What is the order of the rings on your wedding day?
This can be tricky during the wedding ceremony because- do you wear the engagement ring then switch them around after? Or not wear the engagement ring at all and add it after?
How to solve this tricky situation?
I would highly recommend that your two rings be soldered together before your wedding. Yes, you will be ring-less for a short time, but the benefits outweigh the short-term loss. First, since you have probably been wearing the engagement ring for awhile, it most likely has scratches and is dirty. When the rings are soldered together, both rings will be polished and you will look like the newlywed that you are! The second benefit is that by having it done before the wedding is they will always be together, just like your love. The third benefit of having your rings soldered together is that they will wear better by not rubbing back and forth against each other. Lastly, don’t forget to double check the size because once they are soldered together you may need a bigger size because of the width of the set. How your rings fit should be the last thing you would want to worry about on your big day. Let the jeweler do their job so you can enjoy your wedding.
