Images Jewelers Biography

Three words best describes Images Jewelers: Quality, Artistry, and Value. An unyielding commitment to quality has built their reputation as one of mid – America’s premier Jewelers. Their artistic flair is evident in all respects of their work from one-of-a-kind design drawings to hand-crafted jewelry to their award winning showroom. As Graduate Gemologists, their knowledge of precious stones and jewelry making, together with their dedication to quality and artistry enable Images to offer fine jewelry, precious gems and something equally as rare – uncompromising value.

The artistic roots of the company go back to its inception. Images Jewelers opened for business more than 43 years ago and was founded by Robert J. Klose following his graduation from Indiana University with a BA in Fine Arts and Jewelry Design. Starting with a basic set of tools and shop equipment, $200.00 in cash, and a desire to create a new and different sort of jewelry store, Mr. Klose formed “Metal Images“ and operated out of a quaint one-stall converted garage complete with pot-bellied stove on a two acre compound in Elkhart, Indiana.

Within three years, the company had five employees, had moved into a new, considerably larger building at the same location and had formally changed its name to Images Jewelers. Mr. Klose continued his formal education earning a Graduate Gemologist degree and, in 1978 Steve Lennox – a mechanical engineer with a keen instinct for structure and design (and a life –long friend of Mr. Klose’s) – joined the company as vice president. A year later the organization was formally incorporated.

Images JewelersOver the years, Images Jewelers has become well known for designing and manufacturing fine pieces of jewelry. In September, 1993, Images moved to its present location – a 5800 square foot building located at 300 East Bristol Street in Elkhart, Indiana. The new home of Images includes a lavish showroom, private viewing room, walk-in vault, three large shop rooms for in-house casting and precious metal alloying, and a large workshop for fabricating new pieces as well as stone setting, polishing, final finish and inspection. The new facility also has the latest in CAD design software with three drawing and design work stations. Images has always been at the leading edge of the latest technology, with 3D printers, rapid prototype mills, and a laser engraver. Images is always on the search for whatever new technology and the refinement of old world skills can be obtained to further refine the beautiful jewelry they produce. The latest addition of a dedicated ROLEX only, ultra clean watch area is a greatly needed addition to our workshops. In addition to its own, award–winning lines, Images also carries jewelry by other renowned designers as well as being an authorized dealer for Rolex watches. The added space provided by the new location has enabled the company to continue to expand and offer new ideas of exclusive jewelry.

There is no doubt that as Images continues its growth, the factors upon which it has built its prosperity – quality, artistry, and value, will continue to serve as both guiding principles and measures of its success.
